Job 37:5, Matthew 9:14-15

Job 37:5
God thunders and His voice works marvels; He does great things we cannot perceive.

Matthew 9:14-15
14 Then the disciples of John came to him with the question, “How is it that we and the Pharisees fast on many occasions, but not your disciples?”  15 Jesus answered them, “How can you expect wedding guests to mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? Time will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, then they will fast.

Beloved, as usual there were some, in this instance the disciples of John, who were comparing Your disciples unfavorably with themselves.  Often, I too am guilty of not understanding why people do certain things that I may think are not proper and yet they may have a perfectly valid and good reason that I know nothing about.

In this case, You set John's disciples right in their thinking by informing them that the time to fast would come.  This was the time to rejoice because You their Bridegroom, was with them.

When You depart from us because we have sinned and turned away from You then O Lord, help us to repent and confess so we may once again experience the joy of Your Presence.
