1 SAMUEL 17:47
The battles belongs to Yahweh.

The eternal battle between good and evil has been between God and Satan, good and evil and good will always triumph.  The battle belongs to You my God and victory is certain because of Your wonderful plan of salvation that rendered death, the greatest enemy,  harmless.  It is toothless because it has no power to sting for You have triumphed over death, evil and the enemy.  Victory was assured even before the battle had begun because of the Father's wonderful plan of salvation that gave You His most beloved Son, as our Savior and Redeemer, when He sent You clothed in flesh - the perfect God-Man to pay the price for our redemption.

SIRACH 45:5, 10-11, 13-14
By the word of the Most High you brought a dead man back to life;
10 It was written that you should be the one to calm God’s anger in the future be fore it broke out in fury, to turn the hearts of fathers to their sons and to restore the tribes of Jacob.
11 Happy are those who will see you and those who die in love, for we too shall live.
13 Nothing was too dif ficult for him and even in death his body prophesied. 14 In life he worked wonders, in death his deeds were amazing.

All these verses spoken about Elijah and Elisha are but a foreshadow of the Son of God, the like of whom never was and never shall be. How beautifully these verses sum up who You are Beloved, no wonder men and women in every age have fallen madly in love with You and were prepared to suffer and die horrific deaths as martyrs to prove their love for You.

MATTHEW 6:8-15
Your Father knows what you need, even before you ask him.
This, then, is how you should pray:
Our Father in heaven,
holy be your name,
10 your kingdom come
and your will be done,
 on earth as in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 Forgive us our debts
just as we have forgiven those who are in debt to us.
13 Do not bring us to the test
but deliver us from the evil one.
14 If you forgive others their wrongs, your Father in heaven will also forgive yours. 15 If you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive you either.

Because You are fully God and fully Man, You understood perfectly our needs and our concerns and so at the behest of Your apostles, You gave us this perfect prayer. It sums up our petitions in the right order and You close this most beautiful of all prayers with a timely reminder on forgiveness.  It will serve us well to remember that only in the measure we give and forgive will be given and forgiven.
