1 Samuel 17:45, Genesis 3:9-15, 20, Ephesians 1:3-6, 11-12, Luke 1:26-38

Mass Readings for today: Genesis 3:9-15, 20, Ephesians 1:3-6, 11-12, Luke 1:26-38
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 Samuel 17:45
David said to the Philistine, "You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the LORD Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.

No evil plot or plan can succeed against Your own my Beloved, for You walk with us. You saved and redeemed us and we walk with confidence in the knowledge that we are Yours.

Genesis 3:9-15, 20
15
I will make you enemies, you and the woman, your offspring and her offspring. He will crush your head and you will strike his heel.” 20 The man called his wife by the name of Eve, because she was the mother of all the living.

Today, my Mama, the Church celebrates your immaculate conception in your mother's womb. You are the 'Woman clothed with the sun in battle array. You crush the head of the devil and you protect your children for you are the new Eve and the mother of all mankind whom You Son has redeemed.

Ephesians 1:3-6
3 Blessed be God, the Father of Christ Jesus our Lord, who in Christ has blessed us from heaven with every spiritual blessing. 4 God chose us in Christ before the creation of the world to be holy and without sin in his presence. 5 From eternity he destined us in love to be his adopted sons and daughters through Christ Jesus, thus fulfilling his free and generous will. This goal suited him: 6 that his loving-kindness which he granted us in his Beloved might finally receive all glory and praise.

How blessed we are, we who are baptized into Your Body my Beloved. The Father blessed us with every spiritual blessing in You. He chose us before the creation of the world to be holy and without sin in His presence. We have been destined in love to be His adopted children for we call You Brother and Spouse. How richly blessed we are my Lord.

Luke 1:26-38

Dearest Mama, we will read this beautiful account of the Annunciation many times in these coming days and weeks and each time, the beauty and wonder of this incredible drama strikes us anew at what God has done for you. How He raised you above every creature. You are the daughter par-excellence, the immaculate spouse of the Holy Spirit, the beloved Mother of the Son of the Most High God. No matter how extravagantly the Church praises you, we would have still not done justice to God in His forming you and gracing you with every grace and blessing. We are yet sinners Ma, you are perfection.

Wrapped in perfect silence,
She was immersed in prayer,
Quite unaware an angel of
The Lord was standing there.

He called her name out softly,
“Hail Mary, full of grace.”
His greeting filled her with alarm,
As she returned his gaze.

“Be not afraid dear Mary,
God chose you to fulfill
His plan to bear the Saviour,
Naming Him Emmanuel.”

“You know I am a virgin,
How then can this be true?”
“By the Spirit’s powerful presence,
And God overshadowing you.”

“I am the Lord’s handmaiden,
As you’ve said, so may it be,
According to God’s Holy Word
And His plan for me.”

Not even for an instant,
Did she contemplate,
Refusal to the angel’s plea,
Nor did she hesitate.

The gates of heaven opened,
Angels burst in joyful song,
Through her fiat the Son of God
And Son of Man was born.

Today we honour Mary,
As the Mother of our race,
God’s exquisite masterpiece,
Adorned with matchless grace.
